ORTHODONTICS

There’s never been a better time to get the smile you’ve always wanted! At Palmetto Family Orthodontics, our patients receive expert care in a comfortable, family-friendly environment.

What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is, to put it simply, the movement of teeth into their best position so you can have a beautiful smile and a great bite! An orthodontist is a specialist who has received additional training in dentistry that goes above and beyond the standard four years required to be a dentist.

It’s a common myth that orthodontists only offer aesthetic benefits. The reality is that teeth that are not in their proper alignment are more difficult to clean. Uneven teeth cause food and other particles to get stuck in your teeth.

Uneven teeth experience rapid tooth decay or periodontal disease. Some people may even experience difficulty chewing, headaches, neck tension, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

Scheduling a free in person or virtual exam now with Palmetto Family Orthodontics is the best way to learn about how orthodontic treatment can improve your life.

Types of Orthodontic Treatment & Appliances

At Palmetto Family Orthodontics, we want to help you and your family enjoy the smile they’ve always wanted. Modern orthodontic options are lightyears ahead of the clunky appliances you may remember from growing up.

We use the most advanced wires to aid in moving your teeth. Traditionally, stainless steel wires were all that was available. However, stainless steel wires had no flexibility and no memory.  Nowadays, we use wires with nickel and titanium — this blended material allows us to use a light, continuous force on the teeth. As a result, patients experience less discomfort with quicker results and fewer appointments!

Here are some of our most popular treatment options:

Invisalign®

Invisalign is a convenient and practically invisible way to address many common orthodontic concerns. With Invisalign, you only need to wear a clear plastic aligner set for 20-22 hours every day. Each customized aligner set lasts about one or two weeks, at which time you’ll switch it out. Palmetto Family Orthodontics is an Invisalign Platinum Plus provider.

Damon® System Braces

Damon Braces are an incredible innovation that delivers faster treatment, fewer appointments, greater comfort, and consistent, high-quality results. Damon Braces work around the clock, so you won’t need to come in as frequently for adjustments. The old days of having to go to the orthodontist every 4 to 6 weeks are gone! We offer Damon Braces with metal and clear brackets.

Damon® Clear Braces

Damon Clear Braces harness the same power as Damon Metal Braces but are made using a virtually invisible material that blends into your smile. These braces feature rounded components and a low-profile design that lets you enjoy fewer appointments and more freedom between visits.

Traditional Braces

Modern traditional braces have changed significantly from the braces you may remember from growing up. These sleek and stylish braces feature durable components that can stand up to the demands of anyone’s busy life. You can use colorful elastic bands and Mascot Braces to express yourself during treatment. Don’t worry, either; you can get tiger paws!

Early Treatment

We all know that the best defense is a good offense, and regular check-ins allow us to assess your child’s development. According to The American Association of Orthodontists, children should visit an orthodontist by the time they are seven years old. While most children won’t need early treatment, coming in for yearly check-ups lets us identify any opportunities to assist in your child’s development.

Retainers

Keeping your smile looking great requires wearing a retainer after treatment. Palmetto Family Orthodontics offers permanent and removable retainers to keep your teeth in their ideal position and to keep your smile looking awesome!

How Orthodontic Treatment Works

There are more options than ever to enjoy the perks of a natural smile. Although there have been many advancements in treatment, they all function in a similar way. Orthodontic treatment works by applying localized pressure to shift the teeth. Over time, this realigns the smile into a more natural shape.

During your free exam, we will use the latest and greatest diagnostic technology to understand your needs fully. We will use x-rays, photos, and a scanner which creates a 3-D virtual image of your teeth and bite to create your ideal orthodontic game plan.

Should You Seek Orthodontic Treatment?

No matter where you are in life, orthodontic treatment can improve your smile. At Palmetto Orthodontics, we help teens and adults achieve their best smiles.

There’s almost no shortage of benefits to visiting an orthodontist. Recent technological breakthroughs have created innovations in aligner therapy and braces that provide lifelong results. A healthier smile can boost your confidence during those key life moments.
